Governing Board Guardrails
The Board, collectively or through individual Board Members' actions, shall not operate in a manner that fails to adhere to Roosevelt School District's core values and commitment to proactive conflict resolution strategies, ensuring that any disagreements or disputes are addressed constructively and in alignment with the district's commitment to excellence in education.
The Board, collectively or through individual Board Members' actions, shall not go past one year without reviewing and, if necessary, updating the board operating procedures to ensure they remain effective and aligned with the district's goals and superintendent guardrails.
The Board, collectively or through the actions of individual Board Members, shall not make decisions without prioritizing student outcomes, ensuring that all actions and policies are focused on enhancing all students' academic and developmental success.
The Board, collectively or through individual Board Members' actions, shall not govern without prioritizing allocating financial resources to support the board's goals and the superintendent's guardrails, ensuring that funding decisions are aligned with the district's strategic objectives and priorities.
The Board, either collectively or through the actions of individual Board Members, shall not go past 6 months without engaging in meaningful two-way communication with stakeholders, including students, parents, staff, and community members, to ensure transparency, trust, and responsiveness to the community's needs and concerns.
Board Academic Goals
The percentage of fourth-grade students that score meets grade level or above on AASA ELA will increase from 20% on Aug. 2023 to 45% by Aug. 2028.
The percentage of fifth-grade students that score meets grade level or above on AASA Math will increase from 11% on Aug. 2023 to 45% by Aug. 2028.
The percentage of seventh-grade students that score meets grade level or above on AASA ELA will increase from 22% on Aug. 2023 to 45% by Aug. 2028.
The percentage of eighth-grade students that score meets grade level or above on AASA Math will increase from 12% on Aug. 2023 to 45% by Aug. 2028.
Superintendent Guardrails
In attaining the Board's student outcome goals, the Superintendent shall not go without proactively sharing budget updates or enrollment updates and plans that will change our district's current landscape and stability to stakeholders, including board members, students, parents, staff, and community members.
In attaining the Board's student outcome goals, the Superintendent shall not fail to consider climate survey results to ensure a holistic approach to student development, addressing academic, social, emotional, and physical well-being, which includes after-school programming and wraparound services.
In attaining the Board's student outcome goals, the Superintendent shall not allocate district budget resources in a manner that does not prioritize and support student outcome-focused goals, ensuring that financial decisions directly contribute to all students' academic and developmental success.
In attaining the Board's student outcome goals, the Superintendent shall not fail to implement and maintain effective strategies for retaining and developing teachers, including promoting from within, to ensure they positively impact students, as evidenced by data.
In attaining the Board's Board's outcome goals, the Superintendent shall not fail to ensure progress towards exiting aTSI and CSI status, which ensures that students with special needs (SPED) and English Learners (EL) receive equitable access to high-quality instruction, resources, and support services tailored to their unique needs, to promote their academic success and overall development.
