Ms. Donna Perea’s first-grade class was honored on the field at the Sept. 23. Diamondbacks vs. Giants game. Ms. Perea, along with her principal, Dr. Pettitt, accepted the honor during a pregame ceremony. As part of the “Read Your Way to the Ballpark” literacy program, Ms. Perea’s class earned a $1,000 grant to purchase books for their classroom. The Arizona Diamondbacks’ Read Your Way to the Ballpark program is aimed at K-6 students and encourages reading and literacy while also funding new books for classrooms.
